Dear track chairs,
We sent the modified tech description a few days ago, and not sure if the tech description is admitted or not?
And another question is, if we have IEEE student member then we can just selection the option ”IEEE member full registration” to perform register, is that right?
Thanks.

Subject: RE: 2019 IPIN Technical description from MITLab
Dear track chairs,
We have already modified the tech description in section2 for clarifying the “computation on-board only”.
1. Then we can get a higher accurate indoor positioning result. In this approach architecture, all computations are carried out on the smartphone which does not need the internet support. The system structure is represented as Fig. 1 shows.
2. 3) Fingerprinting:
At first, the Wi-Fi RSSI must be collected in each area that we divide before collection. After that, the collected data can be used as the training data for the machine learning classification model. As the resulting model has been embedded in the smartphone, it can be used in the real-time indoor positioning system to predict the position by current Wi-Fi RSSI fingerprint.
The highlight above is our revised descriptions.
Thanks.

Dear competitor,
we are glad to notify you that the proposed system can be admitted to the competition if the following requirements (indicated with PLEASE CLARIFY) from the track1 Technical Annex (http://evaal.aaloa.org/images/2019/annex/track1_ipin2019competition.pdf) are properly satisfied:
- use of only smartphone built-in sensors - OK
- computation on-board only - PLEASE CLARIFY
- no additional instrumentation required in the competition area - OK
- apparently / reasonably easy to be integrated with the provided (steplogger) logging app - OK
- no constraints on smartphone position / usage / orientation - OK
Please send to us the required clarifications. If possible, please also update the tech description.
Remember that the above checklist as been inferred by the chairs from the provided technical description. Please. be sure to satisfy the above requirements before the competition days.
See you soon in Pisa,
Filippo and Antonino
