Dear Colleagues,
The Eighth International Conference on Indoor Positioning and Indoor Navigation (IPIN2017)
will be held at Hokkaido University, Sapporo, Japan, on September 18-21, 2017, technically
co-sponsored by IEEE IMS, IEEE Japan Section and IEEE GRSS Japan Chapter.
State-of-art information technologies including the Internet of Things, Big data and Smartphones
have accelerated the interweaving of the virtual and physical worlds. One challenging and
fundamental issue that must be investigated in this new, "cyber-physical" society relates to
technologies that are extremely well-suited to the task of locating persons, devices and items of interest.
First held in Zurich, Switzerland, in 2010, the International Conference on Indoor Positioning and
Indoor Navigation (IPIN2017) aims to bring together researchers and practitioners from academia and
industry, to discuss innovative positioning technologies, as well as emerging location-based applications
and services. 2017 marks the first time the conference comes to Japan. The city of Sapporo takes
tremendous pride, in having been selected as the venue for the conference, and welcomes everyone
as our honored guests.
We encourage original submissions to different paper categories (full, work-in-progress) or
demonstration related, but not limited to, the following indoor-positioning/navigation and
location-based system topics:
- User Requirements
- Hybrid IMU Pedestrian Navigation & Foot Mounted Navigation
- Human Motion Monitoring
- High Sensitivity GNSS, Indoor GNSS, Pseudolites
- RTK GNSS with handheld devices
- Mitigating GNSS errors prior to moving indoors
- Self-contained sensors
- Signal Strength Based Methods, Fingerprinting
- UWB (Ultra-wideband)
- Passive & Active RFID
- Optical Systems
- Ultrasound Systems
- TOF, TDOA based Localization
- Localization, Algorithms for wireless Sensor Networks
- Frameworks for Hybrid Positioning
- Industrial Metrology & Geodetic Systems, iGPS
- Radar Systems
- Mapping, SLAM
- Indoor Spatial Data Model & Indoor Mobile Mapping
- Novel users of maps and 3D building models
- Magnetic Localization
- Innovative Systems
- Location Privacy
- Applications of Location Awareness & Context Detection
- Health and wellness Applications
The organizing committee invites you to participate in this important
conference by submitting high-quality technical papers reporting
original work, neither previously published nor currently submitted for
consideration elsewhere. Authors can consider two types of submissions:
- Regular Papers (limited to 8 double-column pages), by April 30, 2017.
- Work-in-Progress -WIP- (limited to 4 double-column pages), by June 16, 2017.
Accepted papers will be included in the conference proceedings and
presented Regular Papers will be also submitted to IEEE Xplore Digital Library.
The submission system is already open for regular papers and WIP.
